Your Questions Answered…
Our session will begin with me taking a health history from you and discussing what your focus for our work might be.
You will be invited to sit/lie in a comfortable position (on a therapy couch, Reflexology chair or at home with your feet up!)
I will then massage specific Reflexology points on on your feet, hands or face (as agreed). You may decide you would like complete quiet in your session or may prefer some guided relaxation techniques, some relaxing music played or I may even sing gently to you (with your permission of course!).
A few days after your session you will received a text or email from me to check-in so you have an opportunity to share any healing reactions that have come up or ask any questions.
There are possible healing reactions that can happen after a Reflexology session, these are usually mild and pass within 24-48 hours. Examples of experiences might be tiredness, headache or mild digestive changes. Sometimes it can include an emotional reaction too.
This is simply your body ‘resetting’ itself and is usually a positive sign, it is recommended to keep yourself hydrated with water or herbal teas to support your body at this time.
If you have any questions or need advice about what you are experiencing after a Reflexology session please contact me felicity@soletransformations.co.uk or 07976926322.
As I work on your feet, you will start to become aware that some parts of the feet feel different to others parts. If an area feels uncomfortable, then it just represents an area where there is tension, or where there is a corresponding tension or congestion in another part of your body. For example, if you have a headache, I will choose to work on your big toe, that represents the head zone on the feet (on the hands it will be your thumb) – it is likely you might feel some discomfort or tenderness as I work on that point but, as that dissipates, you may also notice your headache dissipating too. So if there is an uncomfortable spot, it should not last for long.
Reflexology is not about causing pain however, in fact Reflexology can be just as effective with a light or gentle pressure. So if anything feels too painful for you in a Reflexology session just let me know and we will adjust the pressure to find something that is more comfortable whilst we continue to work to release the tension/congestion.
Reflexology is a non-invasive, nurturing and supportive Complementary Therapy to choose during Pregnancy. It can help alleviate and support you to manage the symptoms of Pregnancy; like nausea, indigestion, pelvic pain, body tension, fluid retention etc – whilst also giving you a space to deeply relax and rest.
I have completed additional training in this area with retired midwife and highly skilled Reflexologist, Susanne Enzer and have really enjoyed working with many women in this way over the years. If you have any questions about how Reflexology could help you at this time, please get in touch.
This depends on your particular health concerns, how long you have been experiencing them and if you have specific health and wellbeing goals you would like to achieve with the support of Reflexology.
If there is something specific to address then more frequent sessions could be recommended, generally this is not more than once a week.
After your first session I will follow up with you so we can see how you react to the Reflexology and have more of an idea how many sessions you might need.
I always cleanse/wash the feet (with wipes or towels) before we begin the Reflexology, so there is no need to wash your feet unless you feel you would like too.
If you are having foot Reflexology, please wear comfortable clothes that can be rolled up easily to your knee (not tight yoga leggings for example, or any trousers that you would prefer are not creased).
If you are having hand or face Reflexology wear comfortable clothing that can be rolled up to the elbow or something that is not tight around the neck.
People have many different experiences of receiving Reflexology, some people talk throughout, some people become emotional and some people fall asleep. Others say they feel like they are asleep, deeply relaxed, but not fully asleep.
Essentially everything is welcome and I trust what happens for you in our sessions. If you do fall asleep then you will still get the benefits of the Reflexology work and I will wake you up at the end of the session.

I will always remember giving a talk about Reflexology when someone told me that his feet were so ticklish that the last person to touch them he accidentally ‘kicked them through a plasterboard wall’.
Needless to say I was somewhat surprised that he was the first one to volunteer for a taster session of Foot Reflexology!
Thankfully, the way we apply pressure can be varied in Reflexology, so it bypasses that overly ticklish reaction. Some people also find that it starts a bit ticklish but that fades quickly and they can fully and deeply relax.
For this gentleman, I am happy to say he quickly became a Reflexology convert and had many sessions to support his different health needs over the years.
But if you don’t want your feet to be touched, or if you try it and it doesn’t work for you then that is not a problem, we can also work on the face or hands, which is just as powerful as working on the feet.
I really do understand that people can feel embarrassed about the look of their feet but, in my experience, I often find that we are our worst self-critics and another person can see beauty where we might see not see it in ourselves.
I have seen countless pairs of feet over the years, all shapes and sizes, all with their own unique way about them.
As a result of studying Reflexology and Foot Reading (being able to understand a lot about a person health wise and emotionally through observing the feet) I find the look and feel of our feet fascinating and have nothing but the greatest respect, compassion, kindness and non-judgement about your feet.
Therefore, you and your feet are so welcome.
It may not be that you feel ready to show me your feet, which is totally ok, and you are welcome to receive Hand or Face Reflexology instead. However, I hope that what you have read here might help you feel more comfortable to have a Foot Reflexology session now or in the future.
